ISSMA State results 2017

At State ISSMA last Saturday, Merrillville Choir represented our program and school well.  Forty students competed throughout the day on 23 events.

 

All 15 soloists received gold ratings.  Soloists included Ronald Brewer (perfect score of 9), Amaya Butler, Aniya Edwards, Mia Godfrey, John Grace, Cardalina Hernandez, Cherise Higgens, Cynthia Hindmon, Jasmine Jaramillo, Yolanda Kelly, Devin Pope, Lucas Reinhart, Justin Smith, Tyreak Thomas, and Branden Worthington.

 

Of the 8 ensembles, 6 received gold ratings and 2 groups missed gold awards by 1/2 point each.  Gold ensembles were Choralteen Purple "Lacrymosa,"  Choralteen White "Wade in the Water,"  Higgens Women "Ave Maria,"  MHS Seniors "Sanctus,"  Grace Octet "Ride the Chariot," and the Vocalteen Men "What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor?"  Silver ensembles (by one half point) were Brewer Quartet "When Jesus Wept" and Jaramillo Group "Simple Gifts."

 

Total state medal count overall:  99 gold and 14 silver
