ISSMA Results 2015

Forty-one Merrillville High School Choir members participated in the 2015 ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble contest at Munster High School on Saturday, February 7, 2015.  Over all, soloists received 23 gold and 5 silver ratings. Five of the 6 ensembles received golds and the other a silver rating.


Twenty-one soloists and 5 ensembles representing 77 singers qualified for the state competition in Indianapolis in two weeks.

 

Three ensembles were awarded "Perfect 9" ratings:  Merrillville Senior Girls, Choralteen women and the Vocalteen men.

 

Sophomore Cherise Higgens received a "Perfect 9" on her solo and Senior Tilaya Harris missed a perfect score by 1/2 point.  Sophomore Cynthia Hindmon and Junior Jacob Reinhart missed perfect scores by only 1 point on their solos.

 
 
 

At the state ISSMA competition, Merrillville Choir students performed well in Indianapolis despite the scary trip down I65.  (A shout out to our bus driver Sue who got us there and back safely!)

 

Overall, 19 gold solos, 2 silver solos (one of those by ½ point), 4 gold ensembles and 1 silver ensemble by  ½ point were won by the 36 participants.  

 

 

The Choralteen Girls ensemble "CANTATE" received at near perfect score of 10 and Junior RaShawn Mills was awarded a perfect score of 9 for his solo "Du Bist Die Ruh".

 

We brought home a total of 87 gold medals and 11 silver medals.

Eighth grader Lucas Reinhart also performed at State and received a gold rating.  In two years competing at state, Lucas has only missed 1 point, as he scored a perfect 9 last year and a near perfect 10 this year.
