 Merrillville High School is pleased to welcome to the helm of the Pirate boy's basketball program, 1995 graduate, T.J. Lux.  T.J. was a standout basketball and tennis player for the Pirates.  He assisted Coach Jim East for three seasons prior to being named head coach in the spring of 2011.  Coach Lux was the leading scorer for the 1995 state runner-up Pirates.  He earned All-State honors, Academic All-State honors, and won the prestigious Trester Award at the IHSAA State Finals.  He was a member of the Indiana All-Star Team in 1995 to finish out his high school career.  T.J. was awarded a basketball scholarship to Northern Illinois University where he earned several basketball honors while playing for the Huskies.  He was a three time Academic All-American, four time 1st team All-Conference nominee and finished his career at Northern as the all time leading scorer and rebounder.  Coach Lux joined the professional ranks playing in France and earning a variety of MVP and All-Star honors with Reims and Dijon.  His professional career was topped off with his team capturing the French Cup and him earning the MVP award.  T.J. and his wife Mary have three sons:  A.J. (10), Jack (7), and Troy (3).  The Pirate Family welcomes T.J. and wish him many successful years in the boys' basketball program.
