    Dear Wood Families,

My name is Alison Petralia and it is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the principal of John Wood Elementary.  I am starting my 12th year in education this school year.  Three of those years were spent teaching at Frank O'Bannon Elementary School in Hammond, four in the Lake Central School District, and the past five as an administrator in Merrillville.

I encourage you to communicate with your child's teacher and me regarding any concerns or questions you may have.  As a fellow parent of two beautiful children, I appreciate and understand the tremendous impact of a positive teacher/parent/student relationship. I pride myself in knowing my students and their parents and maintaining positive relationships and communication with them. Relationships and communication are key pieces to academic success for children. My goal is to facilitate relationships within the John Wood community as well as maintain and improve the relationships already established.

I cannot express in words how truly excited I am to work with the Wood teachers, staff, students, and parents to continue remarkable success.

Enjoy your summer and I will see you in the fall!
