HOLIDAY WISH LIST   As you may or may not know, the Merrillville High School Student Government sponsors a Christmas Wish List every year during the holiday season. We try to identify families in the corporation with children in need of holiday gifts and this year we have 122 children in need. Student Government would like to ask not only the high school to participate, but the entire Merrillville Community School Corporation in the giving of gifts to the children/families in need.  If you would like to sponsor a child, all it would take would be an email to me, Sherry Loving at  We will set you up with a child and give you a list of things the child needs and/or wants. Gifts will be collected on Monday, December 17 at the high school from 7AM until 4PM in the Main Guidance Conference Room. Some classes are joining together to collect money and buy gifts. It would be a tremendous help and awesome to see the Merrillville community give back to those in need!  If you are able to do so, please consider joining in on the holiday fun!  Once the wish list is fulfilled, we attempt to find sponsors for gift cards to give each family.  The gift cards can be for grocery stores, department stores, or restaurants, etc.  so that the family may enjoy a holiday meal or purchase remaining necessities for their family.  This year, we have 44 families that will need to be sponsored.  Gift cards can be brought during the same time as gift delivery on December 17 or they can be brought early and placed in Mrs. Sheryl Loving's mailbox for distribution to the families.  Gift cards can be any denomination, but please clearly mark the denomination on the card.
