My role as the school social worker involves providing a therapeutic framework to the various struggles that our students face. Understanding the important link between mental health and academic success, I aim to support each student's psychological well-being in a variety of ways. I act as the liaison between our students and their families and environment, which can include making referrals to helpful community resources and helping families get what they need to be happy and healthy. I collaborate with teachers, assist with crisis management and deescalation, and implement or coordinate many preventative programs and activities throughout the year. My goal is to continue leading Iddings in the direction of being a trauma-informed, culturally competent school with a strong focus on restorative practices.
