As a School Social Worker, I work with students, parents, and school faculty on such issues as attendance, mental health, behavior management, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse and neglect. I assist students and their families in gaining access to formal and informal community resources. I also provide social work counseling to students and parents; participate in case conferences involving cooperation with other pupil personnel workers, school personnel, and community agencies.  I make referrals to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up and serve as a liaison between school, family, and community resources.
