• Katelyn Holsclaw, LSSW, LCSW 
    Katelyn Holsclaw has been the school social worker at Merrillville High School since 2011.  Prior to her work at MHS, she received her Master's Degree from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago and during that time, she worked in a special education cooperative.  Her other experience is with victims of violent crime, immigrants, and crisis intervention.  In February 2015, she earned her License in Clinical Social Work.  She provides education to all the MHS health classes on dating violence, healthy and unhealthy relationship styles and suicide prevention strategies for teens.  She currently runs two counseling groups for grief and trauma.  She is also the coordinator of MHS's Pirate Council, a collective body of highly involved students. 
    Carol Dahlen, BS HS, MS CMHC
    Carol Dahlen has been a Behavioral Consultant/School Therapist with Merrillville High School since 2012. She oversees the MHS In-School Suspension (ISS) day program and serves as the Behavioral Consultant for the Merrillville Alternative Program in the evening. Carol earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Forensic Counseling from Walden University, and her Bachelor's degree in Human Services from University of Phoenix. In addition, Ms. Dahlen is an independent educator consultant with 20 years of facilitator experience, offering diversity trainings, cultural competency, virtue/character development, and circle dialogues for schools and organizations. She is skilled in Restorative Practices and is a certified facilitator/coach in The Virtues Project and Social and Emotional Intelligence. She served nine years as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Minnesota State Juvenile Courts. Ms. Dahlen is presently seeking her certification in Trauma and Loss.
