Salk School Student Council has been busy so far this year with all of the wonderful things they have been doing to help our school and community. They sponsored a coat drive that brought in over 160 coats for The Coats for Kids and Families Organization. Those coats were then given away for free to anyone who needed them in the surrounding communities.
In October they sponsored a pumpkin decorating contest with a $5.00 entry fee and students were able to vote for their favorite pumpkin for 25 cents a vote. This ended up being a fun event that we plan to continue each year to come. The money raised reimbursed the cost of all of the supplies Salk Student Council bought for the tie dying of over 600 t-shirts. The purple tie dyed t-shirts turned out great!!!! Our hallways are very purple on Fridays and it’s great to see the spirit and support for our school.
We want to thank all of the PTO parents who volunteered their day to help with the dying all of those shirts.
In November, we decided to see how we could help Puerto Rico. We found an organization called Convey of Hope, which has a group organized in Puerto Rico to help the people restore their lives. We sent them a check to help their cause. In addition, we launched a spirit wear sale for long and short sleeve t-shirts and hoodies. It was a great success! Unfortunately, the t-shirts will be on a delay due to an unforeseen situation and we appreciate your patience. We expect to have them right after the holiday break.
We are able to do so many things because of your support and generosity. The families at Salk School are a wonderful example to our children and this world. Thank you for helping our kids give back to our school and community in such a positive way. We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
