    Course Expectations, Goals & Routines

    Ms. Stallings Expectations:
    1. RESPECT: Students will treat each other and the teacher with respect.
    2.  PIRATE PLANNER: Students will follow the guidelines in teh student handbook.
    3.  EFFORT:  Students are expected to do all work to the best of their abilities.
    4.  HOMEWORK & CLASSWORK:  Students will turn in all work on time.  NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
    5.  CELL PHONES:  Students will keep these put away.  Students will not use any of these in the classroom.  Use includes talking on the phone, text messaging, checking messages, taking pictures, sending pictures, looking at pictures, checking the time, ETC.  If these items are seen, the item is turned into the office.
    6. VENTILATION SYSTEM:  The system in the classroom is not to be touched.  It is set for health and comfort of everyone.  If you are too cold or too warm, please dress appropriately.
    7.  ATTENTION:  Students will keep their heads up and pay attention. 
    8.  MAKE-UP WORK:  It is the student's responsibility to get their make-up work either before class or after class of the day that they return.
    9.  LANGUAGE:  Students will use acceptable language in the classroom. 
    10.  FOOD AND BEVERAGES:  Students will not bring these items to the classroom.
    11.  SUBSITUTES:  Students will cooperate with substitutes 150%.  Any in appropriate behavior or failor to do assigned wok with a sub will result in detentions.
    12.  TEXTBOOKS & OTHER MATERIALS:  Students will bring these to class everyday. 
    13.  ANNOUNCEMENTS/INSTRUCTIONS:  Students are to remain quiet during the announcements/instruction.
    14.  BEHAVIOR:  Students are expected to use acceptable behavior.  Horseplay, shouting, etc are not acceptable.
    15.  BOOKBAGS & PURSES:  Students will keep these off their desk during class.
    16.  DRESS:  Students will wear clothing appropriate for school.  Students will wears tops with sleeves and males will keep their pants pulled up.
    17.  ATTITUDE:  Attitude is everything!  Come to class with a positive attitude 
     

    Course Description

    Adult Roles & Responsibilities I builds knowledge; skills, attitudes, and behaviors that students will need as they prepare to take the next steps toward adulthood in today’s ever-changing society.  A project-based approach that utilizes higher order thinking, communication, leadership, and management is used to integrate topics into the study of adult issues.  The focus is on becoming independent, contributing, and responsible participants in the community and career settings.  Topics include living independently; financial management; analysis of personal standards, needs, aptitudes and goals; and decision making.

    ·         Grade level:  11 – 12

    ·         Credit:  1 trimester course for 1 credit

    ·         Counts as a Directed Elective or Elective for the General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with technical Honors diplomas

    ·         A Career Academic Sequence, Career-Technical program, or Flex Credit course
