    The Basics of Astrology - MBS-1

    Ecology shows us how everything on earth is interrelated. Astrology carries us up to the next level, revealing the connections between planetary positions and everything that occurs in our lives. Instructor, Ted Zagar, is a world-class astrologer with over 100 columns and articles in print. You will receive a comprehensive, personalized astrology package prepared by Ted. This packet will guide you in the use of the chart wheels and lifelong date scans so that your monthly, yearly and lifelong opportunities in the areas of health, wealth, careers and relationships are apparent. For the purpose of preparing your astrology package in advance of the class, please send with the registration form your full birth date, recorded time of birth, and city/state of birth. Class size limited to 10 students.

    Cardio Fitness - MBS-2

    Burn fat and have fun as you punch, jab and kick your way through this high-energy class. Our instructor, Nikki Frekot, CFT, blends cardio kickboxing and martial arts with today’s great music to help you buff, tone and reshape your body. This fitness program for men and women will include the popular moves in cardio kickboxing, calisthenics and weight training. You need to bring to class: good fitness shoes (no running shoes), towel, initiative, a willingness to work and a great attitude. Limited amounts of weights, water and a fun atmosphere is provided. This class incorporates beginner and advanced fitness levels. Classes held in the Aerobic Center at Merrillville High School, park in Merrillville Senior Citizen Center or in lot across from the Center and use Entrance P.

    Tone, Stretch and Firm Class - MBS-3
    Did you ever want a class that will help you buff up without high impact movements? Join, Nikki Frekot, CFT, in the Tone, Stretch and Firm class where you will work on all three elements in an integrated approach with light weights, stretch bands and slow muscle movements.  This class slows the pace and will teach you ways to get in shape by using body strength movements, pilates, yoga movements, steps, chair and mat work.  You will need to wear comfortable clothing that will not constrict your movements; please bring a water bottle, towel and a pair of two or three pound weights. Classes held in the Aerobic Center at Merrillville High School, park at the Merrillville Senior Citizen Center or across from the Center and use Entrance P.

    Beginning T'ai Chi Chih - MBS-4

    Are you searching for an activity that can increase your level of energy, reduce your daily stress, help you think more clearly, strengthen immunity and lead to better sleep? Then this is the class for you - this course is a non-martial form of Tai Chi developed by Justin Stone in 1974. Students will learn movements which are designed to circulate and balance the flow of energy (chi) in the body which is accessible to all ages and fitness levels. The instructor, Peter Gregory, has been accredited since 1996 spreading the "joy through movement" to benefit students with more energy & greater awareness for mental clarity.

    Beginning Yoga - MBS-5
    Like most exercise, Yoga tones muscles but also includes activities which greatly benefit the skeletal, respiratory, circulatory and nervous systems as well as promote efficient functions of organs and glands. A basic course in Yoga includes relaxing exercises which relieve tension and restore good health, breathing techniques for a higher level of vitality and includes discussion of natural diet and meditation for clarity and calmness of mind. Instructor, Michael LaRocca, has been teaching Yoga since 1970. He studied for 16 years with Yogi Sri Nerode of the Bengal province of India. Mike has taught at Purdue University, Moraine Valley Community College and numerous other centers of adult education. He is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable and outstanding yoga instructors in the Midwest. His classes receive the highest ratings.  Please bring a mat.
