Achieving Excellence Every Day
In Merrillville Community Schools, each of our students is an individual with hopes and dreams. They are more than a number or a test score. They are a valued member of our community and the reason our schools exist. We will do whatever it takes to help them be successful.
The current system of school reform and accountability has trained us to focus on standardized testing data as the outcome for students— and I agree it has its place in our work. This score is only one aspect of a child’s educational development and experience. I encourage you to get engaged in our schools to see first-hand the amazing work happening every day with all of our students. Success is prevalent throughout our district at all levels and in many forms. Success and accomplishments are measured individually, student by student. At Merrillville, our students come first, and we make decisions that best serve the needs of all of them.
