    2019-2020 Merrillville Intermediate Back to School Open House

    Merrillville Intermediate School will hold our Open House for incoming 5th and 6th graders on August 13, 2019. Parents may come to MIS starting at 3:30 p.m. Please go on Skyward to print your child's schedule before coming! The doors to the classrooms will open at 4:00 p.m. We will have two presentation sessions:

    Session 1: 4:15 p.m. Session 2: 5:30 p.m.

    Parents may choose ONE of these sessions to attend. Parents and students will go to the child's HOMEROOM first. That teacher will give a 15 minute presentation about his/her subject area. The parents and students will rotate to your child's next classroom for the next presentation.

    5th grade: Two teachers               6th grade: Three teachers

    Parents and students may also meet the Allied Arts teachers. There will be no formal presentation.

    Parents and students will learn about team expectations and other information that is extremely important for your child to be successful in the 2019-2020 school year.

    A general supply list for the 5th and 6th grade can be found on the Merrillville Intermediate School website. An additional supply list with specialized team items will be given at Open House or on the first day of school.

    PLEASE REMEMBER AFTER JULY 17TH TO GO ONTO  SKYWARD TO UPDATE AND VERIFY YOUR INFORMATION FOR REGISTRATION. IF THIS IS NOT DONE PRIOR TO THE START OF SCHOOL, YOUR  CHILD WILL NOT HAVE A SCHEDULE!

    Student Dismissal Form
    Parents please download the dismissal form and fill this out so that we know where your student is going at the end of the day.

    Extended absence/Vacation Request Form-
     
    It is the parent's responsiblity to have the top portion completely filled out. After that, the student will take the completed form to each Teacher for current grades and signatures- Then the student MUST turn it into the Attendance Secretary in the office PRIOR to absence dates  to get approval from the Principal.-Failure to follow these steps will result in unexcused absences 
    *Please note not all absences will be approved & will be determined at the discretion of the Principal.
