Welcome to Iddings Elementary School! Iddings School is one of five elementary schools in the Merrillville Community School Corporation. Iddings School is located north on 73rd Avenue on Van Buren Street. Our enrollment is approximately 650 students in grades K-4.
Iddings Elementary School is named after one of the most prominent pioneers of Ross Township. Dr. Homer Iddings left his mark, not only on the town of Merrillville, but on the whole of Lake County. Dr Iddings, a graduate of the Detroit College of Medicine, emigrated to Ross Township in 1883. He was known far and wide for his many years of practice, administering to the sick in both the north and central portions of Lake County. Iddings School was built in 1964. Since then, additional classrooms and a gymnasium were added in 1987. The Robert J. Moore Gymnasium was named after Robert J. Moore, its first principal.
